This edition of #TheSoulMixtape features a tribute to some of my favorite DJ's, namely the tastemaker that is UK DJ Giles Peterson, the US own DJ's DJ: DJ Jazzy Jeff and the late great NY's own David Mancuso of the Loft/Garage etc
As well as my own selections in their style (Selecting some of their fave's too) it has some thoughts from them on being a DJ, what that entails and their outlook on music. All 3 are great DJ's IMO; Ive found many a track through listening to Giles, first hearing the classic "Black Gold of the Sun" by the Rotary Connection on one of his shows; Jazzy Jeff to this day is one of the greatest turntablists and knows how to work a crowd, inventive with his selections too. Whilst Dave Mancuso was a pioneer in the 70's and 80's when in came to the club scene in NY, via the Loft etc
I'd encourage you to check out some sets from all 3 which can be found via a quick search on Google/YouTube etc
