SoulNRnB's Street Sounds Sessions 17

So, were getting mixes removed from the site, but thats not gonna stop us from trying to spread the soul about for you all! Maybe, if things get worse, we will go private and have our own little club of soul lovers enjoying these mixes. But, truth be told, thats not what we set out to do. We wanted to expose the good music out there, old and new, so music lovers could explore and PURCHASE music they loved. Thanks to Grizz for highlighting the issue yesterday, and any comments/suggestions from you all would be appreciated.

Anyhow, here's another Upfront Street Sounds Mix with a Ne0-Soul Slant. I'm posting quite a few of these over the summer as there seems to be a lot of new music around thats worth hearing. Dont worry, Ive still got alot of old school mixes to come, but with Grizz Holding down that area so well at present I thought I would keep you up to date.

So here's a mix with a great tune by a duo called Agile called Focused, a tune from Dwele, tracks that you may not know from the gals: Mary J Blige, Nicole Wray and Jazmine Sullivan with a touch of Hip Hop from Slum Village.

Enjoy and, hopefully, Grizz will be back next week!

Removed Posts!

It appears we've so far had 5 of our recent mixes taken down by our file sharing host, as well as some older posts for apparent copyright issues. Its obviously fairly disappointing that, it seems, someone has complained to them about perceived copyright infringement.

We've always believed the 'mix' format gave the listener their musical 'fix' but promoted the artists/songs and that's all we are trying to do- promote good Soul music in all its forms and share the wealth of our collections built up over decades.

We'll definitely carry on spreading the Soul Love for as long as we can, posting as we've always done and hopefully the powers that be will take a more constructive view. Apologies though if you draw a blank on some of our previous downloads!

DJ Grizz- Soul Niceness 15

Hi again to all you rare groove n soul lovers! Its time for another installment of 'Soul Niceness' choc full of rare soul and grooves from the 70's and early 80's. As always the quality dial is set to 'high' with artists like Jermain Jackson (my favorite musical Jackson!), a lesser known but top notch Atlantic Starr tune, a Fat Larrys gem and a soulful jap jazz verion of the Bill Withers classic all feature.

Mr SoulNRnB is elbow deep in feeding bottles and nappys but has ordered a large jug of 'expresso' and promises to return at the weekend. I'll be back next week with some New Funk flavas.

Some great soulful House Vibes here to match the sunshine that your hopefully experiencing in these summer months to go with Grizz's Summer mix last post.

Some great latin Vibes from DJ Jorj and Anto Vitale go hand in hand with soulful tracks by the likes of Blaze and Stephanie Cooke.

My personal fave is the Havana Cultura band's version of Donald Byrds "Think Twice" Remixed by Marc Mac, championed by Giles Peterson. The sun will shine the second it comes on.

SoulNRnB's Street Sounds Sessions 16

Gonna keep the Upfront mixes coming over the summer because, as mentioned in the last installment of these mixes, theres a lot of good stuff around.

Eric Roberson has a high profile in this and upcoming mixes. Forthcoming is some work hes done with Zo! and Jarrard Anthony, but this mix includes a remix from his current LP Music Fan First. (Check that LP Out BTW).

An excellent tune from Reggie B and strong showings from Joe and Chokolate, but one of my highpoints is a joint from Slakah the Beatchild who we pronounced as making the best LP of last year in December. A new track from him is always worthy of notice!!

Enjoy the heat if your in the UK (Its actually like summer here!) and hopefully its nice and summery wherever you are!! Weve got your soundtrack here at the Soul Mixtape, so keep tuned for Grizz next week!
