DJ Grizz- Steve Arrington

Morning mixtapers! Fancy some Funk? Well i’ve an absolute Funk god artist mix today... its Steve Arrington! Begining as the precussionist for Ohio funk lords Slave in 1975 before later becoming their lead vocalist he formed his own band The Hall of Fame in the early 80’s and had a string of solo hits. Although he spent some years in music retirement he more recently became involved in musical collaborations and is touring again.
We start with the great Way Out, there’s Mello as a Cello, a funk masterclass in Weak At The Knees, a big chart hit in Feel So Real, and ends on his collaboration with Dam Funk from a few years back... plus more Arrington Funk Bombs!
Catch you soon!

DJ Ridym - Crate Digs #2

Welcome Mixtapers to my second Crate Digs selection and we've got some goodies for you as usual kicking things off with a modern classic courtesy of Sunshine Anderson monster hit and Steely Dan's jazz funker 'Fez'. We keep the funk going with a Brand New Heavies collaboration with J Dilla and Lynn Collins classic, the massively sampled 'Think'.

We then change up the mood slightly with some Jazz both old and new plus a Reggae revival scorcher from Pat Kelly. Talib Kweli of Reflection Eternal goes sample crazy with Johnny Hammond's Can't we smile in Country Cousins and The Singers Unlimited in 'We've only just begun'
I close the mix with more from the crates to getting you dancing your way through to the start of the week on a high note.

DJ Grizz- Love Unlimited Mix

Todays ‘artist’ mix features the vocal backing group for the Walrus of Love himself, Barry White... its Love Unlimited. Part of the Barry White stable and featuring his wife Glodean (and her unfeasibly long fingernails), the trio had a long and successful career of their own with their big production values, known for seductive Soul and the finest Rare Grooves and full string orchestra backing to boot (The Love Unlimited Orchestra of course!)....heres my selection:

We feature massive Rare Groove scene favourites in If You Want Me and Move Me No Mountain, we’ve the vocal version of the Disco hit Loves Theme and big ballads like Whisper You Love Me and Walking In The Rain With The One I Love plus more Love Unlimited magic.

Stay Soulful Mixtapers!
