Welcome to the first of another new series from me where I'll be bringing you the best tracks from a group or particular artist. He's been consistant throughout  the 90's all the way to the present day and is one of the most talented, hardest working individuals in the businness ladies and gentleman the Soul Mixtape presents the one and only Raphael Saadiq.

In fact Raphael has worked so hard he's made me work double hard to compile a mix that would in some way pay tribute to his achievements over the years, so much so that I've had to break it down into 2 mixes!

So take a break from your Christmas shopping and enjoy the soulful sounds of the neo soul genius. Make sure to keep it locked to the Soul Mixtape. Jah Bless

SoulNRnB's Soulful House FIVE

As Grizz mentioned, been a busy week for me this week with child No.2 arriving, but does that stop me from posting some great music for you?? NOOOOO!!!!

Some great soulful House Vibes here to match the sunshine that your hopefully experiencing in these summer months to go with Grizz's Summer mix last post.

Some great latin Vibes from DJ Jorj and Anto Vitale go hand in hand with soulful tracks by the likes of Blaze and Stephanie Cooke.

My personal fave is the Havana Cultura band's version of Donald Byrds "Think Twice" Remixed by Marc Mac, championed by Giles Peterson. The sun will shine the second it comes on.

Tracklist in comments, and thanks to those that have sent regards.

SoulNRnB's Soulful House FOUR

Part four in my efforts to show the soul lover that House music can be SOULFUL!!

Its quite frightening how modern pop/rnb neglects the essentials like melodies in favour of rythmic repetition. The "Boom Boom Pow"'s and artists like Akon and Sean Kingston etc neglecting to write a song over the created rhythm.

Here we have some great grooves from the likes of Osulunde, Louie Vega and Blaze that showcase melody and uplifting soul.

These compilations have been very popular, so I'm hoping that this music is gaining more fans from the discerning soul lover!

Tracklist in comments, and Grizz back with you early next week. I had a sneak peek at som of his selections for a forthcoming "Niceness" and they are MONSTERS!!!

SoulNRnB's Soulful House THREE

Its been a good 6 months or more since I ventured out into the world of Soulful House music. To re-iterate: This aint the sample laden, boom boom boom stuff you hear pumping out of souped up GTI's with blacked out windows.

This is the good stuff. The soulful stuff.

Lots of real instruments, respect for soul, funk and disco music past, and some great great vocalists.

This edition features work from Bah Samba, Stephanie Cooke, Louie Vega and Erykah Badu, Kenny Bobien and more.

Even a real musical snob like our very own Grizz cant help but show respect to some of the soulful house tunes Ive put before him, so give them a go.

Only a couple of weeks before our birthday special, so stay in touch.

DJ Grizz- Uplifting Soul

We are coming to the end of a difficult year for many what with the credit crunch, jobs losses, rising prices, floods etc. Especially if like me you sat in the rain and watched your beloved but floundering West Ham FC get stuffed by Man Utd at the weekend. Hence I'd thought we'd end 2009 on a positive note with a mix of some uplifting 70's soul and rare grooves!

Don't forget- you only live once but if you do it right, once is enough!!

I will be posting upfront soul still, but in a different form.......More on that at the Weekend!
We will still have the Rare Groove Comp's ongoing, as well as the Soulful House, and maybe some others too. And of course, theres the weekly dose of Grizz that has many fans too.
But, back to this final Nu-Soul.
Big names like Babyface, Jazmine Sullivan, and Common. The last one is an absolute killer remix of "The Light" featuring Marsha Ambrosius.

SoulNRnB's Soulful House TWO

Lets continue this soulful divertion, from Lovers to House.

Reasons why this House compilation is Soulful:

1) It has vocals from Brit-Soul legends Don-E and Shaun Escofferey.
2) It has tunes from Blaze, DJ Spinna and The Sunburst Band.
3) There are things like guitar solo's and horns and real bass playing.
4) I said so.

SoulNRnB & Gimmesomesoulfood Present: Urban Soul 3

Its been a while since we had one of these, but weve got together with that great blog "Soul Food Hungry?" to produce a selection of modern soul and RnB tunes.

A real great selection here, from an unreleased tune by a group I really love called Aaries (Been trying to track down that unreleased CD for years), a rare tune from Joe, Illmatics great Remix of an En Vouge tune, all finished off with a little SoulNRnB mesh (a la The Soul Mixtape) of a Yazarah tune and the Salaam Remi remix of ABC by the Jackson 5.

Again, big thanks to Gimmesomesoulfood for sharing, and we really hope you like! It wouldnt go amis for a few thanks in the comments too! ;)

SoulNRnB Presents Nu-Soul Volume 6

After those detours to South America with Grizz, and to the Deep/Soulful house side of things with me, were back to the ongoing series of new tunes for you to sample.

We didnt post any Michael Jackson material after his death, and I was tempted to put some covers versions up, but other blogs really covered his passing better than we could. So as a compromise, Ie put the full version of one of his unreleased tunes on this compilation.

Other tracks of note are an absolutely corking tune from Anthony Hamilton featuring Phonte, real class......as well as Phonte's right hand man Nicolay with a left field gem.

With added quality from Maxwell with a great remix of his new single, and Joe with Chico Debarge, youve got a great sampler of whats going on at the moment. Hopefully that will get you to investigate these artists discographies.

SoulNRNB's Soulful House ONE

In the spirit of the DISCO JAZZ compilation posted previously, and the Bah Samba post, I thought I would compile some lesser known tracks in a Soulful House Vibe.

Music snobs, of which I include myself, have dismissed house music in the past as throwaway rubbish, but that has really changed. Masters at Work, Blaze, Mark de Clive Lowe, Reel People, The Sunburst Band..... all these great artists and bands have really shown that the House scene can provide all us old time Jazz Funkers with what they have been missing.

So, my advice: Get past the long intro's that are there for the DJ's mixing at the clubs. Get past the fact that your listening to a drum machine.

And enjoy some soulful, jazzy and funky house music. Great vocals, nice instrumentation, great vibes for the car in the summer heat!

Open your ears people!

SoulNRnB Presents: Nu-Soul Volume 3

Whilst Many of the blogs are comemorating the passing of Michael Jackson with lots of his output, we will post something up to date for now.

I was thinking of maybe compiling a special version excursion of Michael Jackson Songs, and maybe Ill put that up in the next week or so.

But for now, here's volume 3 of my "streetsounds" alike compilation of the best modern soul.

A great Van Hunt "unreleased" tune, Raheem Devaughn doing Donny Hathaway, and Mr Al B Sure (who's claim to fame is that he made the last modern record that DJ Grizz purchased....and that was Nite and Day!).
