SoulNRnB's Street Sounds Sessions 100

So here we are. 100 Volumes of our mixes that aim to highlight all thats new and soulful in Soul, Jazz, House, and Hip Hop. We aim to give as much credence to Independent's as we do big name, Major label artists. All that matters is the music. Here's hoping you've discovered something new over the past 100 volumes.

So, whats contained in the latest edition?

We kick off with two excellent ballads, from Tone Trezure and Tweet. Tweet gave us the slow jam of last year in "Trouble", and this is a new tune of her forthcoming release. I cant wait. There are other big names like Raheem Devaughn, Slum Village feat. Kameron Corvet, and the new release from the great Foreign Exchange who are realeasing 2 LP's this year. One a remix compilation, and their long awaited follow up to "Authenticity".

Then we have "Ones to watch" - Seravince, whose new LP you need to check out on their Bandcamp page; and the Endangered whose "Dollars" is another classy, soulful tune from them.

I'm back with an artists mix next week, I will leave you in Grizz's capable hands till then.

SoulNRnB's Street Sounds Sessions 99

Almost hit the Century when it comes to these mixes. Hopefully theyre still as strong and interesting now as they were when we started them!

More of an R&B bent to this mix which features big names like Cover star Justin Timberlake who has enlisted both Timberland and Jay Z for his comeback single; Destiny Child, due to release a best of CD, release a previously unheard Neptune's produced tune; Hip-Hop wise, Busta and Q-Tip wax lyrical on a Janet Jackson beat.....ABOUT Janet Jackson; PLUS the return of THE SYSTEM, whose new LP we've heard at the Mixtape and have got a least 4 tunes off it on rotation!!! Its GOOD.....

But then we've also got quality Jazz-Funk/Latin sounds with tunes from Glenn Underground and Lucus Arruda, a remix from Haitus Kaiyote plus much more.

Ill be back next week with an artist mix, meanwhile Grizz will keep you company at the weekend.

SoulNRnB's Street Sounds Sessions 98

My last post for 2012, and it seems fitting to take a peek into what's coming up for 2013, while at the same time giving you a brand new mix for any New Year celebration soundtracks you need!

Cover star Bilal has an eagerly waited (At least by us!) LP coming out in the new year, and we get the excellent soul groove of "Back to Love" from it as well as a great cover of Stevie's "Too High" from his recently released mixtape.

There are a couple more covers on here too; A great re-work of "Last Night Changed it all" from the Love Loungers and another remake of one of my favourite songs ever made, "Black Gold of the Sun". True, there are many versions of it, and I didnt really need another, but the version by the Decoders has something fresh to bring to the song, and I love its Latin feel.

More? We got Seravince Feat. Renee Neufville (of Zhane Fame) on a great mid tempo tune; Brian McKnight stops all the stupidness and brings us a decent tune; Plus 4Hero alumni Carina Andersson's beautiful tune "Stars" and Soulpersona's re-work of Positive Flow (and Omar's!) "Do what I do". PLUS MUCH MORE!!

Enjoy, have a great New Year, and may 2013 bring you all that you wish for. See you soon Mixtaper's.

SoulNRnB's Street Sounds Sessions 92

Its about time we hade this dude on our cover, been a quality year for him with some great music. Diggs Duke's "Nine Winning Wives" features on this mix, check out his bandcamp page too (http://diggsduke.bandcamp.com/).

But thats not it. A great remix from the UK's Reel People of an Aaries classic, Neptunes produced Robin Thicke, Talib Kweli collaborates with the great 9th Wonder, the return of Anita Baker. They're the names.

New talent you ask? What about a tune from a GREAT new EP from Joanna Borromeo? Friend of the mixtape Sarasvati with "Gold Scraps"? Plus a shiver down the spine remix by Freddie Joachim of a Chester Gregory tune........and more believe it or not.

SoulNRnB's Street Sounds Sessions 85

Well, even if I say so myself, your in for a treat. This Street Sounds mix is one of my fave's of recent times due to the absolute quality of the tunes on here.

Examples?  The opening Freddie Joachim tune featuring Carlitta Durans is on fire as is the Anthony Valadez tune that follows it from his current JUST VISITING release. Then you got big names actually delivering decent tunes. Angie Stone, an all time favorite who let me down with her last release, goes back to her "Black Diamond" style. R Kelly forgets the bitches, hoes, pimps, MOR Ballads and what-not's to go stepping. Teri Tobin gives us something soulful from her forthcoming LP. And then there's the return of Lenny Williams. If Bobby Womack can do it, why cant he!

And over and above, we have those new artists who are looking for exposure and are producing quality soulful music, like The People,  Sweatson Klank and the Endangered.

Download, enjoy and support. Olympics coming to the UK, so im gonna pass the baton to Grizz on Monday and see if he can deliver something special for you too. (See what I did there?)

Back next week with a blast from the past.

I have some great old school mixes coming up in my Artists series, a look back to the 90's in the first of my "Gems" series, and Volume 3 of Nu Soul Jazz. But ive got another hit of the current scene again this week as I cant be letting you mixtaper's miss out on any new, independent, or big name soulful tunes!

SoulNRnB's Street Sounds Sessions 78

Our penultimate mix for new music March features some real good music from favorites and newer atrists alike.

As we mentioned a coupla weeks back, Sy Smith has a new Mark De-Clive Lowe LP out that has some great 80's inspired grooves on it (including the duet with Rahsaan Paterson included of Billy Oceans "Nights"), Soulpersona takes us back with an excellent Jazz Funk styled tune featuring Punk Pappa, Ruben Studdard provides some R&B, and friend of the mixtape Philip Clark shows his tender side.

Some real old school grooves on here besides the Sy Smith and Soulpersona, with 2 steppers from Sam Sparro and Mr. Bird and some 90's style soul from Krystal Klear. If your looking for a more modern vibe though, Sarah MK provides a great tune from her new EP and Dwele re-boots an old Spacek tune.

Enjoy this mix, one more new mix next week and then back to some more featured atrist mixes. Till then, Grizz is going to show off his wedge, elephant cords, leg warmers and Espadrills in the cover to his 80's mix on Monday.

SoulNRnB Street Sounds Sessions 77

Week three of New Music March brings us even more hot music.

Two collaborations from Miles Bonny feature here, showing off his various skills. Names like Estelle and cover star Teri Tobin feature (Teri's new single, an excellent ballad, is a highlight). But youll also find quality in the Raphael Saadiq produced tune from Le'andria Johnson, lashings of soul with Gregory Porter, Jonny Sass, plus Neptunes Chad Hugo goes hip hop with Stalley. If your not a hip hop head, dont be put off by the inclusion of Kanye West on Tony Williams tune, its a corker too.

Hope the new music is hitting the spot, we will be back next week with even more new stuff to clean out your eardrums. Till then, Grizz will keep you company.

SoulNRnB Street Sounds Sessions 76

Here we go with Part 2 of "New Music March" with the latest Street Sounds.

We've Championed Mark De-Clive Lowe on the blog quite a bit, and this week Sy Smith released her MdCL produced LP "Fast and Curious" (Worth a purchase!), so nows a good time to feature his excellent Jazz Version of Aaliyah's "More than a Woman" featuring Nia Andrews on vocals. One of my tunes of the year so far for sure.

Theres great stuff from Phony PPl with a joint that musically takes me back to early eighties Brit funk, a stepper from Personal Life, new artist Colie Williams with the message song "Black Love" plus new Raheem Devaughn.

And then theres the cover star. Truth be told, I miss the Instant Vintage/Ray Ray Raphael Saadiq, so these new unreleased tunes from an LP he was goig to record pre-Vintage are a godsend. Another unreleased tune in a future mix, in the meantime check out "They dont know you" featuring Common and Ledisi!

Grizz taking you back in the future (Monday to be exact!), and we will have SSSS 77 here next week.

SoulNRnB's Street Sounds Sessions 75

There is so much new music out there at the moment, that I'm going to have to leave Grizz do the retrospectives for the next 3-4 weeks whilst I catch you all up on whats out there now. As you know, hes more than capable, so you wont miss a thing. Ill get back to my Artist mixes etc once weve got you all up to date. Speaking of Street Sounds mixes, I've also uploaded 60-69 to rapidshare for those that want some of last years good stuff.

So, whats in Volume 75? Cover star Conya Doss for starters, whose music I've been a big fan of, and who has a new LP out soon. Her single "Don't Change" keeps up her high standards. Neptunes produced Yuna is a name to watch out for, as is a member of our Twitter family Juanita, the Danish group Boom Clap Bachelors, and Lolah Brown. Then there's music from (Now an O.G!) Joe, and a remix of one of my favourite Dwele tunes, "A.N.G.E.L".

Enjoy, Volume 76 hitting the blog next week, lets make March "New Music Month" on the Soul Mixtape.

If your trying to catch up, theres no better place to start. In the next month or so may look at Street Sounds Back Catalogue, but in the meantime.....

Volume 73 includes another great Robert Glasper track featuring our ones to watch, KING. There's R&B from Ne-Yo and Mike Winans, Head nodding Soul from ISHE/DARU and Rochelle Jordan, plus Hip Hop with a Slakah remix of a Drake tune and a B.O.B tune feat Andre 3k.
