DJ Ridym - Crate Digs #3

Todays mix kicks off with two tracks from the garage house musical maestro's Masters At Work including a fabulous re-work of VIP from Icelandic group Gus Gus. Next up is a slap bass heavy alternative take of  Please Be Truthful by Family of Eve. When a track has that much funk I find virtually impossible to listen to without making the stank-funk face!

Bah Samba gives us it's very own version of Fatbacks hypnotic groove Let The Drums Speak. Lucas Arruda's brilliant summer groove and Martha Redbone's swinging bi-sexual groove Boyfriend provides this mix that extra something special. Carleen Anderson's unmistakable vocals makes All In My Mind a no-brainer as is the tropical sea breeze track by the name of Tropicola from Nino Nardini.

Talented Plant Life front man Jack Splash brings the LA funk vibe on Got 2 Find The Way. Talib Kweli and Res provide the vocals on Get Your Own Way which featured in the movie The Man With The Iron Fists starring RZA from Wu Tang. Next up to bat is legend Jay Dilla and Slum Village's classic Fantastic.

We then have two classic reggae tracks from Delroy Wilson and The Uniques and then close the show with an absolute gem from 100% Pure Poison and Windy C.

As always I hope you enjoy the mix and will back for some more from Grizz Soul and SoulnRnB.

DJ Grizz- Teddy Pendergrass Mix

Todays artist mix is one of the all time great vocalist on one of the greatest labels - Philadelphia Internationals Mr Theodore 'Teddy' Pendergrass. Starting life with the wonderful Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes in the early 70's before going solo in 1976, he was equally adept at belting out big production club hits and heavy ballads. TP was making good music up until just before he passed in 2010. Here's some sublime Teddy!!
The Tedfest starts with 2 disco nuggets in Bad Luck and (the ruthless!) I Don't Love You Anymore, there's the hit When Somebody Wants You Back, and ends on 2 class ballads in The Whole Towns Laughing At Me and Love TKO... plus more Teddy goodness.
Keep up the Soul love Mixtapers

In this #TheSoulMixtape retrospective I select some of my favorite tracks from her and she describes what Baduizm is, explains the lyrics to some of her best known songs, and talks on growing up with music.

This could have gone on for hours, so apologies if some of your favorite songs are missed out, but Miss Badu is a real talent and has such a great discography to choose from, so cut me some slack! Im off for a couple of weeks, but till I return Ridym and Grizz will hold the fort down with some great music for you all.

DJ Ridym - Reggae Rockers 13

Someone told me there's a US President in town and he's looking for some sweet reggae vibes to listen to so I knocked up something special for when he's cruising in his motorcade. I was hoping to hear the bass as the motorcade went past yesterday but I couldn't hear a thing. It's either the sound proofing was too good, I was misinformed or that was Trump's decoy!

Anyway hope you're enjoying the sunshine and the mix and I'll be back again with some more. One Love
