DJ Ridym - Reggae Rockers 26 - Tribute to Lee 'Scratch' Perry

This mix is a tribute to one of the best producer/artists in reggae the late great Lee 'Scratch' Perry. There's literally loads I've missed off here, the man has done so much since his humble beginnings at Coxsone Studio.

For those of you not familiar with the man and his works outside of Bob Marley and his stint as a DJ on Grand Theft Auto's Blue Ark Radio I would urge you to dive in. I would describe him as a musical alchemist, 'Crazy Genius', a poet and reggae's own George Clinton (good to know they did a collab before his passing.)

I was hoping to hear the bass as the motorcade went past yesterday but I couldn't hear a thing. It's either the sound proofing was too good, I was misinformed or that was Trump's decoy!

Welcome campers! For this mix we've got a rare photo of Michael Jackson posing with protégé Foster Sylvers of The Sylvers to give you an idea of where this mix is heading. The Jacksons, The Sylvers feature twice in this mix and are joined by soul quartet Promise who were hoping to be signed up by Gordy as the next Jacksons.

Changing it up slightly with three rare soulful reggae from Phyllis Dillon, Derrick Harriott and Jackie Edwards plus some upfront soul diva selection from Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys and a rare Maria Carey song all wrapped up nicely with a Stuyvesants groove keeping with the original theme.
