DJ Grizz- Luther Vandross Mix

Following on from my recent Change mix here's a little something from the Change vocalist that became a Soul superstar in his own right- Luther Vandross. The man with the velvet voice began as a backing singer for artists like Chaka Khan, Diana Ross and David Bowie to name a few, before having huge success with his debut LP - Never Too Much... and the rest is history!

Here's my personal selection of Luther faves including a live version of Never Too Much (he was renown for his live shows and I caught him once in London during the late 80's), there's Til' My Baby Comes Home, a fantastic version of Stevie Wonders Creepin', includes She Loves Me Back and ends on the powerful Still In Love... plus more magic to relive.

Catch you soon

DJ Grizz- Change Mix

This mornings mix is a tribute to one of the early 80's best Soul-Funk Bands - Change. Beginning as an Italian Studio Band formed by producer Jacques Fred Petrus they were responsible for a string of Soul Club Classics and Funk/Disco hits from 1979 through to the mid 80's. They had collaborations with Jam & Lewis not to mention helping to launch the career of Luther Vandross who sang on their early hits.

Here's my little selection of Change favourites including Heaven of My Life, the massive Glow of Love, the great Miracles, a bass slapping monster in Paradise, a beach anthem in Lovers Holiday and ending on the club hit Searching.

SoulNRnB and DJ RidyM are never far away!

Catch you soon Mix-tapers!

DJ Ridym - Soul Weekender 1

Back again folks with a new series incorporating good music from those halcyon days of the great British soul institution affectionately known as The Soul Weekender.

Caister, Margate, Prestatyn and Skegness, these were the UK holiday destinations for young and old to escape their 9-5 and get on down to some of the best in soul music listening to DJ's like Chris Hill, Froggy, Greg Edwards and Robbie Vincent providing the good grooves.

Soul Weekender is my tribute to those hard core ravers who endured 48 hours of non-stop dancing, singing and drinking which normally kicks off at the Main Hall but then breaks out into smaller Chalet Raves until the wee hours of the morning where you'd attempt to drag what was left of you and your mates to the local cafe for breakfast before heading to the pool party for some fun and games, I salute you all!

1. Phyllis Hyman - You Know How To Love Me
2. Teena Marie - I Need Your Lovin
3. Jean Carne - Don't Let It Go To Your Head
4. Cashflow - Mine All Mine

6. Maze Feat. Frankie Beverly - Before I Let You Go
7. The Funkmasters - I Can't Believe It's Over
8. Meli'sa Morgan - Fool's Paradise
9. Keni Burke - Risin' To The Top
10. The Jacksons - Give It Up
11. Odyssey - Don't Tell Me Tell Her

DJ Ridym - Rare Soul Mix 1

It brings me great pleasure to introduce the very 1st of my rare groove compilation's RARE SOUL MIX bringing you some of my own personal favorites to introduce the series. Each one a gem in it's own right but carefully selected together into one mix really does make it something special.

Like the stunning vocals of Clarice Taylor on James Mason's Funny Girl taking you on her journey as she's whisked away from the doldrums to somewhere more enchanting and with the promise of love and more to come.

I always say 'Strings bring the drama' and none more so than Freda Payne's - Tell Me and Millie Jackson's - Rising Cost of Love. Brief Encounter's - Human has the ladies pointing to the ceiling saying 'oooo that's my jam right there!'

I sign off the whole bloody affair with a Leroy Hutson (who else?!) big production 2-step classic.

Up next: DJ Grizz and SoulNRnB until then Jah Bless, Love and Guide you all!

1. Prince - My Love Is Forever
2. Phil Upchurch - When And If I Fall In Love
3. Rasa - When Will The Day Come
4. Willie Hutch - I Like Everything About You
5. Brief Encounter - Human
6. Freedom Express - Fancy Free
7. James Mason - Funny Girl
8. Freda Payne - Tell Me Please
9. Millie Jackson - Rising Cost Of Love
10. Nancy Wilson - Let's Hold On To Love
11. Leroy Hutson - So Much Love
