This week the SoulnRnB spotlight shines brightly on our featured artist and Neo Soul hall of famer, Mr Bilal Sayeed Oliver. Since 2000 Bilal has been churning out the hits in his own unique vocal style which I can only describe as similar to Prince but with a wider range.

Over the years Bilal has collaborated with some of the best Neo Soul artists and producers in the game, too many to mention in fact. With five albums and one Grammy award under his belt Bilal shows no signs of letting up and we certainly look forward to more from this shining star. We at the blogspot salute your Sir!

Hottest day of the year so far here in the UK and what better way to spend it chilling out and keeping cool wherever you are to some fine music mixed here at SoulnRnB HQ!

So for this installment of the RnB Sessions we have an Anderson Paak track off his latest album which I'm hard pushed to choose a favorite as it's all good but this one's definitely up there. Phonte takes a breezy drive through Beverly Hills and Killiam Shakespere is reminding me of that big production sound with strings we heard from Rick Ross's collaboration with Justice League ft. Erykah Badu on Maybach Music III.

We also have Fatima's awesome rendition of SWV's classic Rain, Cookin' Souls chop-up of Dazz Bands Hello Girl which also featured in my Rare Soul Mix 26 and a corker of a Jazz track from Jessie Gannon.

Rumpel X SoulNRnB: Yacht 75-85

Somewhere between AOR and Blue Eyed Soul, the recently termed Yacht Rock Exists. A modern re-branding of that late 70's early 80's west coast sound that most imagine Hall and Oates, Kenny Loggins and Micheal McDonald live in. Which is true, but for us soul heads, you cant look through the artists playing or writing on an early 80's Soul LP without finding a member of Toto or Steely Dan or the Average White Band contributing to it.

So, in conjunction with friend of the blog Rumpel who has his own blog here: http://inthelandofmusic.blogspot.com/ we decided to do a 2 hour mix with some great examples of the genre.
