DJ Ridym - Lovers Rock Volume 1

Strolling down memory lane with some cool lovers rock for our listeners this week. Kicking off with a Freddie McGregor classic courtesy of Norman Connors "you are my starship" and then signing off the mix with some sublime vocals from the queen of lovers rock herself - Janet Kay.

During the 70's and 80's lovers rock had taken hold of the UK blues party scene with artists such as Jean Adebambo, Ruddy Thomas, Carol Thompson and Trevor Walters to name a few. Lovers Rock had firmly made its mark and would often be played by popular sound systems of the time. Caron Wheeler of Soul II Soul fame started out as part of popular lover rock trio - Brown Sugar which gave us such favorites as "I'm in love with a dreadlocks" and "Hello Stranger"

More to come from me next week but until then look out for Grizz and SoulNRnB mixes heading your way!

Freddie Mcgregor - Natural Collie
Heptics - Mind Blowing Decissions
One Blood - Be Thankful for what you got
Investigators - Woman I need your loving
Jean Adebambo - Reaching for a goal
Peter Hunnigale - Won't you be my lady
Ruddy Thomas - When I think of you
Motion - No man is an island
Sugar Minott - Tears you cry
Janet Kay - I do love you

Another of my Nuwaveradio shows next week, but not before visits from Grizz and DJ Ridym

DJ Ridym - RnB Soul Sessions Volume 2

Part 2 of my RnB Soul Session. Thinking of the best way to describe this one without sounding mental "R&B grooves, mixed like a reggae dub track with some classic rare groove samples on top." Sounds like a weird combination of ice cream but it goes down just as sweet with samples taken from classic rare groove anthems like Father's Children/Hollywood Dreaming and Love Unlimited/If you want me

I'll leave you to guess the rest! Back next week with some reggae mixes so stay tuned..

DJ Ridym - RnB Sessions Volume 1

Hi Guy's, I'll be here posting up more of what you're used to plus some reggae mixes for you reggae fans out there but for now here's an RnB mix with an 80's feel to it with sounds from Dego, 4 Hero, Reel People, Silhouette Brown and 80's sounding American Idol contestant Eloni Yawn who's appeared on stage with the likes of legends Dazz Band, Ohio Players and Mary Jane Girls to mention a few.

Enjoy!

DJ Grizz- Billy Paul Mix

Apologies for its lateness (away on football duties last week) but i had to mark the passing of one of the great Soul voices of the 70's - Mr Billy Paul. Through his early jazz recordings to the collaborations with legendary writers/producers Gamble and Huff on the almighty Phillidelphia International label he was truly one of the icons of Soul and responsible for one the greatest love songs ever in Me and Mrs Jones.

My personal favorites are all here including Thanks For Saving My Life, the weekender anthem Bring The Family Back, a nod to his jazz roots in Billy Boy, another seduction standard in Lets Make a Baby and ending with his version of the wonderful This Is Your Life.

Back in a weeks time!
