SoulNRnB Presents: 1979

Another edition of #TheSoulMixtape SoulNRnB presents mixes, this time taking you back to 1979. The Disco fashion was coming to an end, and Soul music was on the cusp of moving to more electronic sounds. Hip Hop was an emerging force, but Soulful music was everywhere. Can you imagine a track like The Crusaders "Street Life" hitting the charts today? Well it did big time back in '79.

Big name stormers from Phyllis Hyman, The Crusaders and Stephanie Mills mix with underground faves from Bobby Womack, Spleandor and Teramusa Hino.

Grizz back at the weekend (Looks like we swapped places this week with him posting a modern mix and me going back!) and ill be back next week.

SoulNRnB's Street Sounds Sessions 127

Our latest Upfront Street Sounds mix features quality as usual. From Mainstream RnB, to Nu Soul, to Nu Jazz, to Funk to straight ahead Soul music.

Big names first. New Mary J Blige produced by somebody called Pharrell. Never heard of him. Then there's Lil John Roberts who enlists a roster of male vocal talent for his excellent "Space" featuring Eric Roberson, Musiq, Anthony David and Mint Condition's Stokley. Then there's the return of the SOS Band, Kelly Price feat Ruben Studdard and Mariah Carey who features mainly because of a top Q-Tip remix of a tune from her new LP.

As for the Independents, you cant go wrong with the new Avery Sunshine LP and we've got a track called "Meditation #2"; Georgia Ann Muldrow gets Funky with "Personal Ms One"; Jermaine Hardsoul goes for a retro Prince sound; Ida Devine brings the Neo Soul plus my fave at the moment from Space Captain.

There's much much more too, 17 tracks in total, so press play and get up to date with all that Soulful and New.

Grizz Back at the weekend with more quality soul.
