DJ Grizz- Chaka Khan Mix

Todays mix is an appreciation of one of the 70's and 80's great Soul and Funk icons- its Ms Yvette Stevens.... better known as Chaka Khan. A large back catalogue of nuggets and hits to choose from not to mention a cameo in the Blues Brothers film what's not to love about Ms Khan. Either as part of the great 70's Soul/Funk band Rufus or later as a solo singer here's my favourites!

We start with a Rufus funk-soul monster in Do You Love What You Feel, there's the disco tinged Clouds, a great jazz interpretation in A Night In Tunisia, the wicked Stay, and we end on a live version of Sweet Thing to show off that powerful voice... plus more (indeed I could easily have done a 2 parter to cover all my faves!)

Enjoy fellow Mixtapers!

DJ Ridym - RnB Sessions 8

Session 8 of my RnB mix focuses on the late great Marvin Gaye with recent releases that have in someway been inspired by his music. Starting with a Salaam tribute mix which leads nicely into Eloise Laws - Ain't It Good Feeling Good which for me has Marvin written all over it. Floacist, Raheem Devaughn, Jamie Hawkins and BJ The Chicago Kid are all modern artists who have got his sound down to a T.

Add to this Carl Hall's rare groove nugget what about you plus one classic cut from the man himself with where are we going compliments this mix and provides just the right balance for your listening ears. As with the Stevie Wonder tribute I'll be doing another mix later on down the line dedicated to the great man but until then stay tuned mixtapers!

1. Marvin Gaye - Falling In Love Again(Salaam Mix)
2. Eloise Laws - Ain't It Good Feeling Good
3. The Floacist ft. Raheem Devaughn - Start Again
4. Jamie Hawkins - Next To You

DJ Grizz- The SOS Band

Morning Mixtapers and today another mix from a band from yesteryear that many of us grew up dancing and listening to ... its The SOS Band. On the Tabu Record label they were massive on the 80's Soul/Dance Charts especially after later teaming up with legendary producers Jam and Lewis. Here's a few of their 'Finest' hits (see what I did there?).

We start with their 1st big hit in Take your Time Do It Right from 1980, we've mid tempo goodness in Groovin' (that's what we're doing), dance floor classics like High Hopes and timeless favourites like Weekend Girl and Just Be Good To Me!

In conjunction with parts ONE and TWO, they are my best songs of the year. Don't agree? Comment, hit us up on Twitter or Facebook and complain!!
